This newly created Business Development Manager role is responsible for driving considered, sustainable sales growth through proactive engagement with the trade market.
With an established network across the architecture and design (A&D) and property development sectors, you will bring a strategic and design-led approach to identifying new opportunities and cultivating long-term partnerships. As the BDM for Queensland, you will introduce Ellison Studios to new clients and engage with existing accounts, guiding them through the collection with a focus on quality, materiality, and tailored solutions that reflect the integrity of the brand.
You will play a key role in building our presence within the local market, laying the foundations for ongoing growth and a strong local network. Beginning as a remote position with a 12 month contract, this role requires a high level of initiative, autonomy, and self-direction, with a view to transitioning to a hybrid structure as a physical showroom presence is established.
This is a unique opportunity for a commercially driven and design-oriented individual to contribute meaningfully to a growing brand and shape its trajectory within a new market.

Main Duties & Responsibilities
1. Business Development & Sales
- Identify and cultivate new business opportunities across design studios, architecture practices, and property developers
- Execute a considered and strategic approach to market growth, aligned with broader business objectives
- Present the Ellison Studios collection with clarity and confidence, delivering tailored proposals that respond to project needs
- Manage the full sales cycle with a high level of ownership, from initial engagement through to project completion
- Collaborate on events, activations, and initiatives that elevate brand presence within the local design community
2. Relationship Management
- Build and nurture long-term relationships with key industry partners, grounded in trust, consistency, and a deep understanding of their projects
- Deliver a seamless and highly considered client experience from concept through to delivery
- Act as a refined brand ambassador across industry events, presentations, and networking opportunities
- Maintain accurate and detailed client records, ensuring all interactions are thoughtfully tracked and followed up
3. Market Intelligence & Strategy
- Maintain a strong awareness of market
trends, competitor activity, and emerging opportunities within the Queensland design and development landscape - Provide considered feedback on product performance, client requirements, and opportunities for range development
- Contribute to sales forecasting, pipeline visibility, and reporting with clarity and precision.
Skills & Experience - 5+ years’ experience in business
development, sales, or account management within the furniture, interiors, or design industry - An established network within design studios, architecture, and property development sectors
- A proven ability to drive revenue growth and convert opportunities into long-term partnerships
- Highly developed communication and presentation skills, with a polished and considered approach
- Strong commercial acumen, balanced with a genuine appreciation for design, materiality, and craftsmanship
- Deep understanding of the specification process across residential and commercial projects
- Highly organised self-starter, with the ability to manage multiple projects and client relationships concurrently

Main duties & Responsibilities
Reporting
• Forecasting Support: Assist in the preparation of monthly rolling forecasts for the merchandise financial plan in collaboration with the Merchandise Director and wider team. Reconcile this against demand forecasts to ensure alignment with business goals.
• Performance Reporting: Prepare and analyse reporting on Sales, Markdowns, Stock Levels, Stock Turns and GM trading performance. Highlight key trends and provide insights to support decision-making by senior management.
• Wholesale Reporting: Generate monthly and quarterly performance reports for key wholesale accounts, tracking sales trends, order history, and seasonal performance. Provide actionable insights to improve sales and stock management.
Inventory
• Inventory Management: Manage inventory stock budgets, and stock levels considering both local and wholesale demand and supply requirements. Provide insights for any overstocks or understock that needs to be addressed by cross functional teams. Proactively identify SKU-level risks and opportunities, developing strategies in coordination across product team and cross functional teams to maximize sales and minimize stock-related risks.
• Purchase Order and Inventory: Oversee and streamline all aspects of supplier purchase orders (POs) and inventory management, guiding the Merchandise Assistant in strategically managing supplier relationships, POs and shipping timelines across multiple territories and sales channels. This includes maintaining precise forecasting to ensure accurate, timely deliveries and collaborating with suppliers to optimize order flow and mitigate delays.
• Inventory Allocation & Landed Cost Tracking: Oversee the receipting of POs and allocation of goods into the inventory system, including invoice tracking for accurate landed cost calculation.
Assortment Planning
• Range / Assortment Planning: Support analysis of sales history, reporting, and market trends to contribute to range and assortment decisions. Provide insights to help optimise product mix and align with customer demand, working collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
Budgeting & Financial Planning
• OTB & Inventory Support: Manage Open-to-Buy (OTB) in collaboration with the Merchandise and other teams, supporting sales forecasts, inventory levels and gross profit objectives.
• Budgeting Support: Contribute to budgeting processes by maintaining planning files, tracking performance against targets and highlighting variances. Support adjustments based on trading performance and inventory position.
Logistics
• Logistics & Freight Coordination: Oversee & liaise when required with freight forwarding providers and supply chain partners to meet import/export requirements, including compliance with domestic and international documentation requirements
• 3PL & Capacity Planning: Work with the Australian 3PL and retail partners to optimize container flow, monitor pallet space, and ensure capacity needs are met.
Promotions & Pricing Strategy
• Pricing Support: Assist in maintaining pricing frameworks and analysing sales and margin performance to support pricing decisions.
• Promotional Planning: Support the planning and evaluation of promotional activity, ensuring alignment with inventory levels and sales objectives, working alongside the Merchandise and Marketing teams. Ad Hoc Skills & Experience
• Team Support: Maintain merchandise planning tools, reports, and documentation to ensure accuracy and accessibility.
• Internal Collaboration: Work cross-functionally with the Merchandise, Finance, Operations, Sales and the Merchandise Director to support alignment across wholesale and direct channels. Provide regular updates on stock position and performance.
• Wholesale Order Fulfillment Management: Oversee Merchandise Assistant’s coordination of order fulfillment for wholesale accounts, ensuring accuracy and timeliness across all shipments and meeting wholesale partner requirements.
• Compliance & Documentation for Wholesale Accounts: Manage all new product submissions to ensure Wholesale accounts receive all necessary product information in time. Manage wholesale-specific compliance requirements such as order documentation, labelling and packaging specifications. Work closely with the Product Manager to ensure compliance with product standards and international regulations.
• Wholesale Returns & Credit Management: Handle wholesale return authorisations, processing credits and adjustments as needed and work with finance to maintain accurate accounts.
Team Management
• Team Leadership & Development: Supervise the Merchandise Assistant, providing mentorship, guidance, and support to enhance their skills in merchandise planning and administration. Train the Merchandise Assistant on internal systems (e.g., NetSuite, Shopify) and best practices, and identify opportunities to streamline processes for efficiency and effectiveness.
• Task Delegation & Oversight: Delegate and monitor tasks for the Merchandise Assistant, including data entry, purchase order creation and inventory tracking to ensure accuracy and timely completion.
• Data Integrity & Record Management: Oversee Merchandise Assistant data entry, validation, and flow of paperwork for accuracy, including purchase order generation. Ensure consistency in NetSuite system records for all vendors and wholesale customers.
• Performance Management: Together with the Merchandise Director, conduct regular performance reviews with the Merchandise Assistant, setting clear goals, offering constructive feedback and recognizing achievements to support their professional growth.
• Cross-Functional Communication: Facilitate communication between the Merchandise Assistant and other departments, ensuring they have the support needed for accurate and timely execution of tasks.
• 2-3 years’ experience in Merchandise Supply and Demand Planning
• Proven track record in merchandise planning, with experience in forecasting, budgeting and inventory management.
• Hands-on experience in managing inventory planning and supplier coordination, including purchase orders, landed cost tracking and logistics.
• Strong analytical background, with experience producing and interpreting sales, stock, and margin reports, including proficiency in identifying trends, risks and opportunities to inform business strategies.
• Proficient in analysing data to uncover insights and create actionable strategies.
• Experience managing Open-to-Buy (OTB) plans and financial forecasts to optimize profitability.Company

SHOWROOM SALES CONSULTANT - NSW.
As a Showroom Sales Consultant at Ellison Studios, you will play a key role in delivering an exceptional in store and online customer experience, supporting retail sales while assisting both e-commerce and trade enquiries.
You will be responsible for creating a welcoming, design-led showroom environment, guiding customers through our collection with confidence and expertise, and converting enquiries into sales across multiple channels. Alongside retail customers, you will support trade clients with product information, availability, and order assistance-working collaboratively with the broader sales team to ensure a seamless experience.
